For the fourth year in a row, the HTX Bike Fest will take over Market Square Park for a Saturday filled with BMX races, bike demonstrations and, of course, beer. Even if you're not a cyclist yourself, the BMX bikers alone are worth coming out to watch as they slide and swoop up and down ramps that will be set up along Preston Street. The festival officially opens at 10 a.m., with the first sprints and events kicking off at 11 a.m.

If you want to come out for the really big stuff, the pro BMX competition starts at 2 p.m., while the bike show—complete with awards ceremony—will take place at 4 p.m., with a best BMX tricks competition and bunny hop contest to follow at 4:30 p.m. DJs will be spinning throughout the day while over 50 vendors from across the city will be on hand to show off their wares, including Schott Cycles, West End Bikes, Bayou City Cycles and Black Gold Cycling.

Thirsty? Karbach Brewing and Kickin' Kombucha will be pouring free samples throughout the day, and there's always the plethora of bars and restaurants around Market Square should you require something more substantial.

Admission to HTX Bike Fest is free, with a suggested $5 donation to benefit Bike Houston, the non-profit that's working to make Houston's streets safe for cyclists of all stripes.

HTX Bike Fest, Market Square Park, 301 Milam St. Sep 17, 11 a.m. to 6 p.m., free.
