If you haven't yet taken in a production at the renovated DeLuxe Theatre, this weekend is your chance to check out the newly restored Art Deco-era cinema that's just one example of the revitalization efforts underway in the historic Fifth Ward. A half-mile stretch of Lyons Avenue will be closed to auto traffic Sunday afternoon, the latest to take part in Cigna's Sunday Streets project, which invites pedestrians and cyclists to explore a different Houston neighborhood each month.

In addition to Lyons, a portion of Benson will also be closed to cars, offering nearly a mile of roads for walking and bicycling down between noon and 4 p.m. Bring the little ones for a "Kidical Mass" ride at 2 p.m. (entrants in the free group ride should arrive by 1:45 p.m.) and watch the big ones make fun of themselves as adults are invited to participate in a Big Kids on Small Bikes race at 2:30 p.m.

Don't miss the Inversion-inspired Fifth Ward Jam art installation/bandshell by artists Dan Havel and Dean Ruck that functions as both a stage for live music and the centerpiece of a park at the corner of Lyons and Capron.

And if you time your ride correctly, you can even get in a tour at the Saint Arnold Brewery, just down Lyons and across 59 from the Fifth Ward. The beer hall opens to the public from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., with tours every hour starting at noon.
