The New York-founded MUSEUM OF ICE CREAM is the Instagram-friendly art installation that's become a must-stop tourist attraction in not only NYC, but also its other locations in Los Angeles and Miami. And now the viral favorite is coming to Texas.

According to a press release, the MOIC will open in Austin and feature 12 reimagined and never-before-seen installations dedicated to the celebration and experience of enjoying ice cream. The installations will include a 1960s retro diner, where guests can enjoy coffee, treats, cocktails, and a life-size animal cookie in the well-known Carnival Room.

The museum will also feature a new installation called the "Museum of Modern Ice Cream," where guests will create their own masterpieces, and a sprinkle pool, where guests are invited to exclusively reserve pool-side cabanas for private events.

Although the museum was originally created in the Big Apple, the concept was birthed right here in Texas — at SXSW to be exact.

"We knew then that the combination of Austin's love of amazing food, experiences, art and, most importantly, its inclusiveness and welcoming culture would make the city a wonderful home for MOIC," said Maryellis Bunn, co-founder and creative director, in a statement. "We could not be more thrilled to continue our mission to spread joy and connection through the universal power of ice cream in Austin."

Throughout the entire exhibition, ice cream lovers will be able to enjoy five unique ice cream treats as they are guided through their frozen experience. The MOIC plays on all five senses—making it an inclusive experience for all.

"When creating the original pop-up Museum of Ice Cream in NYC, we wanted to evoke the feeling of first discovering the city," co-founder Manish Vora explained. "Ice cream shops, in particular, were a haven of safety and joy for us, and we were inspired by immersive art exhibits, architecture, and play spaces."

The Museum of Ice Cream will open at 11506 Century Oaks Terrace, Ste. 128 in Austin on Saturday, August 21. The first wave of presale tickets is available for purchase now on their website
