À Bientôt Sidewalk Sale
It's heeeeere ... the only event that can inspire River Oaks denizens to queue up around the block for a deal. À Bientot's famed summer sidewalk sale offers as much as 80 percent off of the store's Palm Beach-meets-the Hamptons clothing and accessories. Sale prices last through June 22, but for the best selection you'll want to arrive on Saturday, June 10, by 10 a.m.
Obviously a store that gives regular courses on grilling is no slouch in the "having things that men want" category, yet Bering's is currently in the process of upgrading its men's section. The new Men's Shop doesn't officially debut until August, but new product lines like Danner Boots and eye-catching floor displays already make it a must-hit in advance of Father's Day.
Local Studio Sale
Just the phrase "sample sale" for me conjures stressful Sex & The City-era scenes of women literally battling over discount designer shoes. (I might once have physically leapt to grab a pair of suede stiletto boots the second another women put them down. Size 38 shoes marked down are basically unicorns. I regret nothing.) Anyway, this is not at all what I imagine the joint studio sale from eight Houston-based makers and online shops will be like. Spring lines as well as designer samples and one-offs will be available from Birch & Goldberry, Evens, Namu Shop, Myth & Symbol and more on June 17, 12-5 p.m. Remember, no fighting.
Saks Wing Stores
There's a whole wing full of new boutiques that are scheduled to open at the Galleria by the end of the month. Ted Baker, Lacoste, Sam Edelman, Adriano Goldschmied, Cuadra, Robin's Jean and Trésor Rare are all set to bow in the state-of-the-art, redeveloped section of the mall on June 30.
Pop Shop Houston Summer Festival
By now you know the Pop Shop deal—a certifiably delightful sampling of local makers, DIY classes, live music, drinks and bites. But the Summer Festival on June 10-11 at Silver Street Studios takes everything up a notch, with so much awesome they can't fit it all in one day. Expect all of the above, plus a fashion show on Saturday night featuring a quartet of local designers, visual art exhibitions and a complementary beauty bar from Milk & Honey Spa.
Galveston finally has a luxury shopping experience, and it's in the lobby of the San Luis Resort. Aqua opened on Memorial Day weekend with an impressive list of high-end swimwear and beachwear designers—think Vix Swimwear, Ted Baker, Nanette Lepore, La Blanca, SeaFolly, Trina Turk, Eugenia Kim and Tommy Bahama, among others—plus chic shades from Prada and Tiffany & Co.
