QFest
With 60 films being screened over five days at nine venues around town, this year’s QFest offers something for everyone. Last year, the festival made its first, tentative steps into Houston’s hinterlands by holding film screenings at the Alamo Drafthouse Mason Park in Katy. The experiment was so successful that this year QFest is expanding even further, adding screenings in northwest Houston (at the Alamo Drafthouse Vintage Park) and Galveston (at the Galveston Artist Residency). Late Nite Catechism Las Vegas: Sister Rolls the Dice
With all her experience running the church bingo, it was only a matter of time before Sister hit the City of Sin. In this latest chapter in the Late Nite saga, the convent asks our favorite nun to organize a night in Las Vegas. We can only hope it goes as well as that bachelor party in The Hangover.

American Idol Live

The annual tour of American Idol finalists has become as much a staple of the summer concert season as Lollapalooza or the Warped Tour. This year’s headliner is zaftig chanteuse Candice Glover, who finally won the show in her third run. Joining Glover are nine co-finalists, along with fan favorite Aubrey Cleland, who won the coveted eleventh tour spot through an audience vote.

Carlos Vives
With over 20 million albums sold, Carlos Vives is one of the most successful South American artists of all time. Like his fellow Colombian Shakira, Vives writes and sings his own songs. He comes to town in support of his most recent album, Corazón Profundo.

Under the Influence of Music Tour

The headliners of this hip-hop mega-tour are Wiz Khalifa, the multi-tattooed rapper who brought “Black and Yellow” into the hip-hop lexicon, and A$AP Rocky, the Harlem MC-slash-French-braided style maven. Supporting them is B.o.B. and gold-toothed MC Trinidad James. See our story here.
