Painter Charlotte Wood finds new ways to express herself after losing her sight.

Charlotte Wood had always been a creator. Cooking, entertaining, painting, drawing, knitting – her energies were boundless and flowed in myriad directions. But then, late in her 80s, her long-troubled vision dimmed into near-total darkness. Many people would have given up and settled into a world of audio stimulation. Charlotte Wood did no such thing. Newsfix investigates how, with the help of an HISD art teacher, she taught her hands to see and became a sculptor:
