The classic Disney film—and 1894 stories by Rudyard Kipling—comes to life at Fort Bend Theatre, telling the story of the orphaned boy Mowgli and his friends Bagheera, a black panther, and Baloo, a sloth bear, who try to help him escape the deep jungles of India. And of course, look for the bare necessities.

Artists of the Houston Ballet
Students at the Houston Ballet Academy will perform scenes from well-known ballets, in addition to new routines they’ve worked to create, at this annual event. Dancers of all skill levels will demonstrate their training throughout the past year.

It’s one thing to have taken a trip to see the San Jacinto Monument, but another to witness a reenactment of one of Texas’ most significant, historical events. The annual San Jacinto Day Festival celebrates the Battle of San Jacinto, which marks it 180th anniversary on Thursday, April 21, with historical presentations, a tour of the Monument, and—you guessed it—Texans acting out the battle.

The Cynthia Woods Mitchell Pavilion is going to turn up with '90s hip-hop jams on Friday, featuring Salt-N-Pepa (yes, their set will include the classic “Shoop,” “Whatta Man” and “Push It), Spinderella, Kool Moe Doe, All-$-One, Rob Base and more. Don’t forget to don your best harem pants or denim overalls.

The Museum of Fine Arts, Houston presents Francofonia, a 2015 French film directed by Aleksandr Sokurov, as part of its Houston Premieres series. With English subtitles, the nearly hour-and-a-half movie focuses on the friendship between a museum director and Nazi officer who attempt to preserve the artifacts of the Louvre Museum in Paris during World War II.
