Though a tiny, intense, whirling, dancing dervish of a kid threatened to steal the spotlight at this year's Free Press Summer Fest, it was still the headliners at this year's festival that brought the house down over the weekend. Acts including Modest Mouse and power-duo Collegrove (that's Lil Wayne and 2 Chainz) took the stage on Saturday while Sunday saw the likes of The National, Deadmau5 and Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeroes wow the crowds who packed the parking lots at NRG Park.
This is the second year in a row rainy weather has forced FPSF to abandon its original (and now very muddy) festival grounds at Eleanor Tinsley Park in favor of the concrete surfaces at NRG. But even that move didn't mean festivalgoers were totally safe from the weather; a powerful band of thunderstorms moved in on Sunday evening, forcing a temporary evacuation as FPSF suspended operations after the National Weather Service issued a lightning warning.
That didn't keep Houstonia from snapping a few shots of our favorite acts, however, which ranged from Trae Tha Truth to Thee Oh Sees.
