Sorry Austin City Limits, but there's a new music festival mecca in Texas.

The elusive announcement of Middlelands Festival rocked Houston in early October with its promise of an immersive music and camping fest to come in 2017. And today—thanks to its newly launched website—the inaugural event is confirmed for May 5–7 in Todd Mission, which many Houstonians may recognize as the same venue that houses the Texas Renaissance Festival.

The one-of-a-kind festival is produced by veteran production companies Insomniac (responsible for the massively popular Electric Daisy Carnival) and C3 Presents (behind such equally massive events as Lollapalooza and Voodoo). Themed "Adventure for the Ages," the multifaceted Middlelands Festival transports attendees to a fantasy medieval kingdom along with five confirmed interactive stages with names like "Castle Northwoods."

But it's not just music. Amusement park rides will fill the property—all free!—as well as art installations, including "four-dimensional superstructures and mind-blowing feats of ingenuity, inspired by the elements of air, water and fire."

Early bird tickets go on sale November 10 at noon. Stay tuned for music lineup announcements at
