The always-free '60s soul music extravaganza is back, where DJs will spin soul deep cuts off the original 45s. Things kick off at 10 p.m., with special guest Brian Cannon, the photographer responsible for iconic cover art for groups such as Oasis, The Verve, and Suede.

Bun B/Trae tha Truth at Karbachtoberfest
Sept. 16 | Karbach Brewing Co.
If you didn't love them already, rappers Bun B and Trae tha Truth endeared themselves to Houston during Harvey by organizing a star-studded Hand in Hand Harvey telethon and conducting boat rescues, respectively. They're back as part of Karbach's three-week "Karbachtoberfest," where lederhosen and dirndls are encouraged and custom ceramic mugs overflow with suds.

Texas Taco Music Fest

While it surely will not measure up to Houstonia's recent Taco Loco event, a Texas-sized taco festival will take over Discovery Green with a cook-off, 18 big bands, climbing walls, crafts and whatever else they can cram into the space.

Every month, Houston's downtown park transforms into an eclectic flea market piled with unique local retailers. Telepathic Improvisation
Sept. 16 – Jan. 7 | Contemporary Arts Museum Houston
Riffing off Pauline Oliveros’s 1974 score of the same name, this new film/sculpture exhibition from Pauline Boudry and Renate Lorenz invites audience members to telepathically interact with the people on screen. Consider it an opportunity to flex your brainpower (but hopefully not too much).
