An event that calls itself "the Granddaddy of ALL Texas hunting shows" returns to the Bayou City for a weekend to give hunters the rundown on the latest skinning, shooting, and mounting developments just in time for the season. There will also be live alligators, a mechanical bull, and a snake demonstration, because of course there will be.

White Linen Night
August 4 | 19th Street in the Heights
It might look like a cult gathering to the uninitiated, but the white-clad throngs taking over the Heights this Saturday mark the annual summertime gathering of food, shopping, music, and cavorting known as White Linen Night. Started in 2006 by a pair of New Orleans transplants, it's grown into a Houston classic with unofficial branches popping up along White Oak, at Heights Mercantile, and individual establishments, including Heights Bier Garten. Definitely consider an Uber or Lyft—parking will be abominable, and road closures complicate routes.
6–9 p.m., 600–900 blocks of 19th Street. More info at theheightswhitelinennight.com.
Houston Restaurant Weeks
Thru Sept. 3 | Multiple Locations
Consider this your annual chance to sample the full spectrum of Houston's dining scene—from everyday chains like Bellagreen to highfalutin' eateries including Xochi and Brennan's—at a discount. More than 100 participating restaurants (full range here) will have specially-priced HRW menus available for order, with a healthy portion of proceeds going straight to the Houston Food Bank. Soup's on 'til Labor Day, but don't wait too long to take advantage of the deals.
More information at houstonrestaurantweeks.com.
The Big Lebowski 20th Anniversary
August 5, 8 | Multiple Locations
Hard to believe it's been two decades since we were acquainted with The Dude (not to be confused with The Guy), but we're still quoting the Coen Brothers' masterful Jeff Bridges vehicle. As you catch the black comedy back in theaters, we recommend an ensemble of bathrobes and at least one white Russian per hand.
Tickets $13.53. Multiple Houston-area theaters. More info and tickets at fathomevents.com.
