Have you been waiting, hoping it’s coming? Well, Houstonians will soon have to wait no longer because the smash hit Hadestown takes the train to the Bayou City next summer as part of Broadway at the Hobby Center’s 2020-2021 season.

The thrilling New Orleans-style retelling of the Greek myth of Orpheus and Eurydice—set to a New Orleans jazz-infused score and packed with some serious French Quarter-style—took Broadway by storm in 2019, winning eight Tony Awards and, most recently, a Grammy for Best Musical Theater Album. It’s also received rave reviews from, well, everyone.

Other standouts in the 2020-2021 season include Academy Award winner Aaron Sorkin’s adaptation of Harper Lee’s Pulitzer Prize-winning To Kill a Mockingbird, Tina Fey’s Mean Girls (based on the modern cult classic film also from the SNL alum), and the popular but controversial Tootsie.
