Mardi Gras! Galveston is taking place this weekend.

Let the good times roll in Galveston y’all! With Fat Tuesday less than two weeks away, Galveston is hosting its 111th Mardi Gras 2022 celebration tonight and will continue with a jam-packed weekend of concerts, parades, food, and most importantly, fun.

This year’s festivities will kick off with the George P. Mitchell Mardi Gras Award presentation where the Krewe of Gambrinus members, Richard and Carol Ivey, will be recognized. The Iveys are being acknowledged for their continual work behind the scenes serving others and their respective committees.

The corresponding honoree parade will begin in downtown Galveston near Pier 21 at 7 p.m followed by the 11th annual Funky Uptown Umbrella Brigade at 8:30 p.m. Country singer and songwriter, Matt Stell, will hit the stage for his headlining performance at 10:30 p.m. on the Corona Extra Stage.

The festive occasion will carry on to Saturday as the parade and entertainment highlights will include the Mystic Krewe of Aquarius Kick-Off Parade at 12 p.m. and the Krewe of Gambrinus Parade at 6 p.m. starting at 57th Street and the Seawall. The festivities will also include a performance from the rock band 3 Doors Down at 5:30 p.m.

On Sunday, Feb. 20, the 5th annual Fiesta Gras, which focuses on the celebration of Hispanic heritage, will turn up the heat at Mardi Gras! Galveston with live entertainment from Siggno and San Antonio trio LaDezz on the Corona Extra Stage. Los Locos Vaqueros Parade featuring Roy Lopez of the Houston Texans, the El Norte La Raza Parade, and food vendors will also be part of the day.

Parking will be available at lots on 21st & 20th streets and Market and 20th streets and the Post Office. Parking garages can be located at 25th & Harborside and 22nd & Market. A taxi stand will be stationed on 23rd and Market for pick up and drop-offs to the entertainment district. Reservations for spaces at local parking garages can be made online to save time.
