Did you know that Houston is home to hundreds of thousands of bats? Sail across Buffalo Bayou while witnessing some of the city’s incredible biodiversity. The 90-minute guided tour will allow you to watch more than 250,000 Mexican free-tailed bats emerge from under the Waugh Drive Bridge while learning about how the creatures contribute to the Bayou City’s ecosystem. Don’t worry about bringing along a garlic clove—there’s no risk of this species turning into vampires.

Visit an arts festival

Join the Sugar Land Cultural Arts Foundation in the fourth rendition of the Sugar Land Arts & Music Fest at the Smart Financial Center. Celebrate the artistic talent of the region as you enjoy art, food, wine, and live music. This year, artists Too Much to Say, Vel Lewis, Gary-Michael Dahl Band, and Yacht Rock USA will be performing for visitors. There will also be several food vendors on site, so come with room to eat.

Make your way to Post for an afternoon of live smooth jazz tunes. The Houston Professional Musicians’ Association (HPMA) is hosting its fourth annual HPMA Jazz Fest with an eclectic lineup of styles in honor of Jazz Appreciation Month. Enjoy big band, modern jazz, funk, swing, and more as you shop. There will be two main stages—the Z Atrium at Eden Plant Co. and the Outpost rooftop—to suit different listening preferences.
