This spring, after an absence of almost eight years, the first of several planned Krispy Kreme Doughnut shops is scheduled to open in the Houston area, reigniting an ancient dispute, as the following recent city-data.com posts reveal:

Krispy Kreme is thick and too cake-like. Tastes like cardboard to me. —Texas7

Sorry, but Shipley's tastes like crap compared to KK. —RVD26

Shipley’s ran Dunkin’ and Krispy Kreme out of town once and they will do it again. —DJboutit

Krispy Kreme will always be more popular. —megaman

Shipley’s is Houston trash. —NewMom03

Shipley’s has a funny smell to me. —I Love North Carolina
