Sip on This Wicked Smart Cocktail

Wicked cast its spell on more than just Houston audiences this opening week. The historic Lancaster Hotel on Texas Ave. crafted a thematic cocktail to coincide with the national tour as it performs at the Hobby Center through August 14.
Allan Levine, food and beverage director at Lancaster's Bistro, concocted the "Wicked Witch"— a play on a cosmopolitan using green Midori (naturally), citron, vodka, fresh lemon juice and the Bistro’s homemade sweet and sour mix ($14).
Levine and the Bistro bartenders crafted the drink after an hour of trial and error. Green apple was a no go from the start in terms of flavor. Ultimately, the green hued Midori mixed with Stolichnaya Citron vodka made a balanced yet captivating cocktail. “It has the right balance of sour and sweet and is easy to drink,” Levine said.
The Lancaster Hotel is an ideal spot for a pre or post-show cocktail as it's located in the heart of the Theater District. The historic hotel rings in its 90th anniversary this year with select $90 room rates and a $90 three-course dinner for two special every Sunday until November 27. Theater buffs reserve their rooms a year in advance based on show schedules, but it's not too late to book your staycation.
