Last year, it was Helen Greek Food & Wine. In 2014, it was Coltivare. Which new restaurant will Houstonia declare the best of 2016? Readers will have to wait until magazines arrive in mailboxes and hit stores to find out. Unless, that is, they want to not only find out early, but also taste why we made that choice.

For the first time, we're offering the opportunity to get a sneak preview of our selection with a Secret Supper. How does it work? On Sunday, September 18, we're offering two separate seatings for an intimate meal at the best new restaurant. Attendees will find out where to go with a secret message that morning. A general admission seating will take place from 5:30–7 p.m., featuring four courses with drink pairings. A VIP dinner follows with a cocktail hour and hors d'oeuvres at 7 p.m. I'll be there to discuss my choice and talk Houston food. Like the earlier seating, a four-course family-style dinner will follow, allowing guests to taste as many dishes as possible in a sitting.

Each ticket is all-inclusive; $125 for general admission, $160 for the VIP meal. The purchase benefits Brighter Bites, a Texas charity that delivers fresh produce to families and teaches them to prepare healthy meals.
