Get Wild With Three Brothers' King Cake Cheesecake and King Cake Petit Fours

All of the King Cake flavor you want without the threat of messing up your teeth on a baby.
I have a soft spot in my heart for those bold enough to tweak time-honored traditions. Case in point, Three Brothers Bakery, which once again is offering innovative takes on the traditional Mardi Gras King Cake in the form of cheesecake, cupcakes, and petit fours.
The Mardi Gras King Cake Cheesecake (6-inch: $39.95; 10-inch: $59.95) utilizes the standard flaky King Cake as the crust foundation for dense vanilla cheesecake, which is decorated in a pinwheel of symbolic colored sanding sugar: green (faith), purple (justice), and yellow (power). This diet-defying round is also sans bébé, so you can plough through your wedge with abandon and without worries of losing a filling to a plastic infant.
The same is true for the delightful petit fours ($2.50), whose glazed vanilla exterior is adorned with purple and green buttercream masks. However, dearth of a baby in this confection somewhat saddens me given its name means “small oven.” Man, would I have had fun in this article making all sorts of “bun in the oven” mixed metaphors.
Despite having been badly affected by Harvey, Three Brothers is still doing their best to let the good times roll, and for that effort they will continue to get my business (and some beads if I have them handy).
All Mardi Gras products can be ordered via the bakery's online store and all are also available at all Three Brothers Bakery store locations. Mardi Gras products will be in stock a few weeks after Fat Tuesday (February 13).
