Summer doesn’t officially begin until June 21, but Houston is feeling the heat already. Luckily, Pappas Bros. Steakhouse is here to help cool us off with an impressive set of new cocktails to wash down all the steak goodness. Beverage concept manager Matt Tanner has incorporated light, spring and summer flavors throughout each of the four new cocktails Pappas is offering up.

A standout is the Watermelon Pimm’s Cup, made with Pimm’s No. 1, Beefeater gin, watermelon, lemon, and soda. When you think summer, nothing says it quite like watermelon, and a bit of gin doesn’t hurt either. Equal parts refreshing and nostalgic, this cocktail will run you $13. Sticking with the gin, there’s the Pappas Bros. Extra Fancy Gin and Tonic, with Martin Miller’s gin, Fever Tree tonic, lime, strawberry, grapefruit peel, lemon peel, and basil. The result is a cocktail full of color, instantly Instagrammable and worthy of the #nofilter hashtag. It goes for $15.

Switching over to a spirit with a bit more of an island flair to it, Tommy’s Shine Box includes Pampero Aniversario rum, H&H 5-year-old Madiera, Amaro Nonino, lemon, orange, and dark sugar. The Shine Box arrives with a golden hue to it, which is accentuated by the lemon and orange slices, and priced at $14. Rounding out the new additions is the Old Cuban, containing Ron Zacapa 23 Rum, Smith & Cross Jamaican Rum, lime, and mint, plus Chartogne-Taillet ‘Cuvee St. Anne’ Brut Champagne. This delicious cocktail is available for $18.

If the oppressive Houston summer heat starts to get to you and you’re in the mood for some quality steak, imbibing at Pappas Bros. Steakhouse is a pretty good way to treat yourself and beat the heat in the process.
