It's been quite a day for Mama Ninfa.

Legacy Restaurants announced the launch of The Original Ninfa's Uptown Houston at BLVD Place in Uptown Park. Essentially the second location of The Original Ninfa's on Navigation, the new place won't be original or on Navigation, but never mind that. It's scheduled to open in late spring 2019.

The announcement comes hours after Legacy unveiled a new Ninfa's concept—Mama Ninfa's Tacos y Tortas—that will open its first location in 2019 at Understory, a food hall inside the soon-to-be-completed Capitol Tower.

As for this new Original Ninfa's location, the 6,300-square-foot space will seat 180 with a bar area, private dining room, and three covered patios. Alex Padilla will continue to head the operations as corporate chef, while Legacy plans on hiring a chef de cuisine for Uptown. Meanwhile, some employees working on Navigation will have the opportunity to move to the new location.

Michael Hsu—the hot name in restaurant interior design—is developing the space, which will include a wood-burning oven and grill, plus a tortilla station.
