Two bits of anticipated news on this Tuesday morning:
The Kolache Shoppe's second location (at the new Heights Central Station development) is now open. The nearly 50-year-old refuge for warm, cozy kolaches opened at 1031 Heights Blvd at 7 a.m. Tuesday. Go get a Pinkerton's brisket kolache, an egg and cheddar, and plenty more, along with coffee from Boomtown and—maybe the best news yet—a drive-thru window. This week, the shop will be open until 2 p.m. Tuesday-Sunday and 7 a.m.-noon on Christmas Eve. Permanent hours will be announced shortly.
Meanwhile, folks in Montrose should be happy to learn that Shake Shack is opening its newest Houston location at 11 a.m. Thursday. The 3,638-square-foot space at 1002 Westheimer Road has an outdoor patio, and along with the burgers, dogs, and fries, it'll feature frozen custard and concretes that include the work of Fluff Bake Bar and UB Preserv. On day one, Shake Shack will donate 25 percent of proceeds to the Houston Humane Society.
