The winter events schedule is heating up, while a bunch of breweries are whetting our whistle for spring with some awesome releases. There's plenty to explore this weekend; get out and drink.

It's a beautiful package. Not pictured: Cesar Cedeño.

New Releases

Karbach just released a beer we're sure to see a lot of once March comes around. Crawford Bock, a 4.5 percent ABV bock, is the result of a partnership between Karbach and the Astros. The can is outstanding, displaying the tequila-sunrise-era Astros logo and font treatment. If you have tickets to Astros Fan Fest, you can get a first taste of the brew. If not, you'll just have to wait until the first week of March. It'll be available in stores, restaurants, and bars, and of course, at Minute Maid Park. It's perfect for a lazy Sunday spent watching the 'Stros.

Not only is B-52 Brewing releasing a new beer called Before The Internet: Mix Tape, a hazy double IPA, but it's also throwing a Totally Tubular '80s Party to celebrate. It's an all-day affair with a cornhole tournament at 2:30 p.m. and best-dressed competition ('80s style, naturally) at 8 p.m.

Divine Reserve No. 19 is here. A spiced oatwine that clocks in at 10.4 percent ABV, this most recent addition to the Divine Reserve family started as an English-style barleywine with Saint Arnold ale yeast. Malted oats, cinnamon, and nutmeg were added to spice it up a bit more. It's available at the brewery's beer garden and in stores.

If you're a fan of RoboCop references, Sigma has a NEIPA available for you today. It's called I Work For Dick Jones. Meanwhile, its collaboration with Brash for Sierra Nevada's Resilience effort is also out

There's a new beer at Under the Radar: What The Gekkie. It's a Kottbusser-style wheat beer made with agave and maple syrup. Kotbusser is an old German style that was outlawed because it defied the German Beer Purity Law. You can also add some Java Pura Coffee to it, you know, if you're sleepy.

As for Brash, its Scottish Hell Scotch barrel-aged wee heavy is coming at you with a party at 9 p.m. Saturday at Rudyard's Pub. Houston metal icons Deadhorse will play. The beer then comes out in bottles at noon Sunday at Brash.

Refreshing and tart, the Blueberry Kölsch has made its debut at Great Heights Brewing Co.

Platypus has a new one out there called Kiss My Piney. It's an IPA with Simcoe, Zythos, and Denali hops, and a piney aroma, of course.

New stuff at Texas Leaguer: Farm System #52, a German SMaSH with Munich and Mandarina Bavarina hops, comes out Friday.

Ingenious worked with a proprietary hop from the Great Lakes for a new beer called Double Bonus Hops, a tropical double NEIPA that literally looks like pineapple juice.

Twisted Acre will be celebrating the final season of Game of Thrones with two new beers: White Walker, a white stout, and Night King, also a white stout, but barrel-aged. They'll be available in April.

News & Events

This weekend is the big seventh birthday party at Buffalo Bayou Brewing Co. The fun starts at 6 p.m. (VIP access at 5 p.m.) with 40 different beers available, including some barrel-aged treats. Reveille Barbecue Co. will serve up the grub. Tickets ($30-$40) are available.

11 Below is hosting a Super Bowl-watching party starting at noon Feb. 3. And since it's February, that means crawfish. Geaux Texan Cajun Food Truck will be supplying mudbugs at $6.99 per pound. Crush them.

Put it on your calendar now: On Feb. 24 City Acre is hosting its Cellar Bounty Hunt, which showcases beers brewed using ingredients grown on its very own land. You'll get to taste the available beer if you go, but if you want to go home with them, you'll need to participate in a scavenger hunt taking place on the grounds. The fun starts at 11 a.m.

Eureka Heights is giving a first pint free to all workers affected by the government shutdown. You must show your valid federal government ID.

Spindletap has announced that 5% Tint is joining its core lineup, heading to cans starting in March.
