If Benjamin Berg's goal has been to try and make the news at least once a week, lately he's been super goal-oriented.
This time around the restaurateur behind B&B Butchers & Restaurant, B.B. Lemon—and now B.B. Italia and B.B. Pizza—is snagging attention for his plans to open a Montrose location of the aforementioned Lemon, according to the Houston Chronicle. Specifically, Berg is bringing his ode to New York City (and Northeast-style cuisine) to the former Pax Americana space at 4319 Montrose Blvd.
We reviewed B.B. Lemon back in March; if you're seeking tried-and-true American comfort food, especially with a good bar, Lemon is among the better choices in the city.
It's the latest in a string of moves for Berg Hospitality Group. A few weeks ago it re-opened Carmelo's as B.B. Italia and a sister take-out and delivery concept B.B. Pizza. Last week news surfaced that Berg was teaming up with acclaimed chef Robert Del Grande to transform Houston's legendary Cafe Annie into The Annie Café and Bar. And all the while, the acclaim for Berg-piloted endeavors only continues to grow.
Meanwhile, Berg will not be opening what was to be Benjamin in Downtown Houston. It will be interesting to see what Berg makes of the space. Pax Americana occupied the spot as an acclaimed restaurant for less than five years before abruptly closing in January. Berg says he plans to open the new Lemon in a month or so.
