Whether riding high off the Battle of Winterfell or anxiously awaiting the final confrontation to end it all, Game of Thrones fans are in their element this month, to put it plainly. Online threads and theories can be exhilarating, and the memes are always a good time, but HTX Pub Crawls is providing Houstonians the opportunity to join forces and speculate the night away in person at your favorite downtown hot spots. After all, as a nod to Tyrion, doesn’t it sound fun just to drink and know things?
On May 18, a day before the series’s grand finale, bars like Dean’s Downtown, Lilly & Bloom, and notsuoH will play host to Crawl of Thrones, which includes in the general admission price a themed koozie, cup, and a wristband. Each stop will in turn provide participants with Westerosi drink specials, like Bovine & Barley’s The Drink that Has No Name, and The Lower Commander Shoot.
For the cosplay enthusiasts, don’t put away your Daenerys Targaryen ensemble from Comicpalooza just yet, because there will be a costume contest with a $500 prize by the end of the night. It's well worth the effort of trudging around downtown Houston in sweaty armor and scales, courtesy of our balmy spring temperatures.
Check-in will be from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m., but keep a raven’s eye on the event’s Facebook page for up-to-date information on what’s in store. There’s really no better way to send the show off than with an adventure of your own, before spending an hour and 20 minutes of your Sunday night on the edge of your seat in front of the television.
Winter may have come and gone, but Westeros is forever, and the staff at HTX Pub Crawls expects 1,500 to 2,000 Thrones devotees in attendance to celebrate the end of an era. If you happen to see Cersei out and about, be sure to tell her that I want her to know it was me.
