Plus, get thee to Saint Arnold for a celebration of all things barrel-aged.

We got events to think about in the Houston beer scene. Saint Arnold is throwing a barrel-aged bash, while 8th Wonder and Karbach have big parties planned over the next few months. Also, what the heck is Tex?

News & Events

There's a new beer showing up on social media feeds across the city. Tex, which promises a "crisp," "refreshing," and "low calorie" experience, is coming via 8th Wonder Brewery. The brewery wouldn't offer any further comment, but be on the lookout.

Speaking of 8th Wonder, tickets are now on sale for its seventh Celebr8tion, which marks the brewery's birthday. Tickets start at $8 (for designated drivers) and $28 (for admission plus beverage tokens) for the Mar 21 event that includes performances by Monophonics, Neal Francis, Victoria Canal, Blaze X Black, DJ G-Funk, Khris Royal, and Henry Invisible.

Friday evening is Saint Arnold Brewing Co.'s A Barrel Aged Evening, where all guests will get to sample barrel-aged beers from its cellar, try new barrel-aged offerings, and take home a collectible glass. Appetizers to be served, too. $65 per person.

Tickets are available for Karbach's Rodeo Clown Roundup, which is set for 1 p.m. to 9 p.m. Feb 16 and helps kick off Rodeo season with live music from Blackberry Smoke, Cory Morrow, Charley Crockett, the Band of Heathens, and Clint Daniels. Tickets start at $20.

Beer Releases

The next 8th Wonder bottle release will be Zoltan, a Russian imperial stout aged in bourbon barrels, then re-aged on sour cherries. It's set to come out just after Valentine's Day.

Now on at Ingenious is Fruit Madness: Mixed Berry Sorbet. Conditioned on black currant, blueberry, black raspberry, prickly pear, huckleberry, and marshmallow, it comes in a 9 percent ABV and is available on draft at its taproom.

New stuff at Eureka Heights: Acid Wash, a sour beer dry-hopped with Citra.

Great Heights is promising some combination of New England IPA and American IPA coming out Friday, most likely.

Sigma is canning I Would Drink Me, an 8 percent double IPA with a fruity flavor, even some coconut in there. It should be out Friday.

Baileson has a new black IPA out called Ludo. It uses Cascade, Chinook, and Centennial hops, and has a roasted malt backbone.

Look for the next canned Southern Star beer, Barely Coherent, a brown ale, in stores in February.
