Party Time

Where to Eat up and Drink in the Coogs' Final Four Run

Here's who is throwing a watch party for Saturday's semifinal.

Cougars fans can party at East End Backyard on Saturday.

Houston hasn't seen this kind of fervor for college basketball since Kenny Loggins last topped the charts.

On Saturday night, the University of Houston men's basketball team takes on Baylor in a national semifinal game ... or succinctly, it's the Coogs and the Bears in the Final Four. How will you watch? At home? Or would you rather head to a bar or restaurant and cheer on UH surrounded (in a socially distant way, of course) by other rowdy fans?

If you prefer the latter, there are a few options for you Saturday evening:

Bobcat Teddy's Icehouse: The hoppin' Heights bar will host a crawfish party, courtesy of Clutch City Crawfish. There'll also be live music, and the game will be on every television.

East End Backyard: Something of a hub for Coogs fans during the NCAA Tournament, the new-ish patio bar will have crawfish by Voodoo Momma's starting at 1 p.m., bites from Mingo's food truck, drink specials on Saint Arnold H-Town Pils, and live music. Be sure to check out the Coogs' House mural at the intersection of Scott and Dallas streets.

Hay Merchant: Head to Underbelly Hospitality's gastropub in Montrose where, since it's a game between two Texas schools, all Texas beers will be half-off during the contest. So, order right at tip, during halftime, and just before the last two minutes.

Revelry on Richmond: Always a fun time, the Montrose bar will feature $20 Houston craft beer buckets, $4 cougar shots, cougar-blood sangria, and cougar margaritas. Plus, every TV will be showing the game. Revelry also has a substantial back patio.

Also, while Kenny & Ziggy's New York Delicatessen Restaurant isn't a game-day watching spot, the famous restaurant is offering $1 off all of its pastrami sandwiches on Saturday in honor of the Coogs. It's the perfect way to celebrate at home.
