At Layne's, it's a standard three chicken fingers with Texas toast and fries.

It's been a College Station choice for chicken fingers since 1994. Hungry Aggies know it well.

Now, Layne's Chicken Fingers is in the Greater Houston area. Its first storefront around here—at 23703 Cinco Ranch Blvd. in Katy—will open on June 26.

"We have dreamed about bringing Layne’s to Houston for a long time," says Matt O’Reilly of Layne's Chicken Fingers, in a press release. "Houston has wanted it, and we couldn’t be prouder to see this through."

Layne's won't be the only chicken finger purveyor in town. It joins other chains like rival Raising Cane's and the ever-popular Chick-fil-A and Popeyes, of course, but Houston is also home to some applause-worthy fried chicken joints that do chicken fingers right.

As for Layne's, it does hand-cut and marinated chicken fingers, a sandwich with three fingers and "secret sauce" on Texas toast, a club sandwich (get rid of the sauce and add bacon and cheddar cheese), and a grilled cheese sandwich. Fries and potato salad round out the menu.

The Katy location of Layne's is operated by Masroor Fatany, a Texas A&M grad who also operates six locations of The Halal Guys in town.
