The Taco Stand is set to open in the fall.

Burgers? Tacos? If on Shepherd Drive between 20th and 21st streets ... why not both?

Burger Joint owners Matthew Pak and Shawn Bermudez, announced last week that 2018 N. Shepherd Drive, a 2,000-square-foot space neighboring the Heights location of Burger Joint, will become The Taco Stand. The partners promise street-style tacos and burritos with barbacoa, lengua, carnitas, and other meat and veggie proteins, plus frozen margaritas (and breakfast tacos). It'll have dine-in, to-go, and drive-thru service, and will be open 6 a.m. to midnight Sunday through Thursday and 6 a.m. to 4 a.m. Friday and Saturday. Look for it sometime this fall.

How many Miss Mini Donuts can you eat?

BCK in the Heights has reopened its dining room, adding chicken wings, milkshakes, and a half-off-all-drinks promotion on Thursdays. It also now offers goodies from Miss Mini Donuts, a Newport Beach, California-based concept owned by BCK owner Leslie Nguyen. Miss Mini specializes in bite-sized and creatively-topped donuts (think Fruity Pebbles, Kit Kat, Cotton candy) that come in boxes of four, 25, 50, or 100.

Congratulations to Tracy Vaught, owner of H-Town Restaurant Group (Backstreet Cafe, Caracol, Hugo's, Xochi), who on Aug. 16 was inducted into the Texas Restaurant Association Hall of Honor. It's the highest award bestowed by the association and recognizes her more than 35 years operating restaurants in Houston, with all of them earning high praise.
