Everyone together, now: Roooooooooooyyce! Yes, this month Prince Royce comes through The Woodlands (with Pitbull, July 23), bringing with him the summertime bachata jams, just what our little soirée needs. He’ll be joining actress Laurel Harris, a.k.a. Elphaba in Wicked!, opening July 6 at the Hobby Center; Oxheart’s Justin Yu, a.k.a. Best Chef Southwest at this year’s James Beard Awards; Leonie Harm, a.k.a. the first UH student to make the NCAA women’s golf championships; Rebecca Rabinow, a.k.a. the new director of the Menil Collection, taking over this month; and Robert Ivany, a.k.a. University of St. Thomas president and apparent number one fan of Greg Abbott, whom he calls a “powerful role model” (the governor gave a commencement address at the college shortly before announcing plans to sue the Obama Administration over its directive regarding transgender students and public schools). Rounding out the guest list are local man David Dao, who recently shared a viral video of an amazing road rage incident off 290, surely elevating H-Town in the world’s esteem, and one Sally of Greenwich Village, NY, who, in a letter to the New York Times, asserted that New York should be more like...us. “New York City has to look to Houston as the model to help level out or bring down the city’s lack of commercial and residential space,” she wrote. “China doesn’t have zoning—they can get things done like the people of Houston do.” Um, thanks?
