Toronto-born-and-raised Drake may not be from Texas, but—like the bumper stickers say—he got here as fast as he could. And while the Canadian has achieved worldwide fame in the time since he launched his rap career after meeting Lil’ Wayne in a local club in 2008, he still reps Houston whenever possible, referencing the Bayou City in his lyrics and even getting a tattoo of the Astros logo on his shoulder.
All of which got us wondering, ahead of his shows here next month (Toyota Center, Sept. 3–4): When it comes to representing the city to the world at large, who does a better job, Drake or the giant civic organization that promotes Houston?

So Who Reps Houston Better?
Drake. Lawsuits have no chill.
Drake. The cool kids are over WashAve.
Drake. The Galleria now has only one Macy’s.
Live Music Ideas:
Tie. Everyone loves Warehouse Live.
GHCVB. We can’t even print the lyrics from Drake’s verse on dining out here, plus Ibiza is delicious and its wine list is on point.
Drake, who’s real about the heat struggle while still managing to namecheck everyone’s favorite be-grilled rapper.
