Wondering where to board your pooch? Below, four highly rated options, matched to your dog’s oh-so-specific personality:

For the Athlete: Houston Dog Ranch

The rigorous sports program at this Spring Branch spot mixes basic commands, agility, and obstacle courses that go way beyond the Frisbee. Also on tap? Scavenger hunts to complement a relaxing stay in the ranch’s air-conditioned log cabins adorned with canine pop art

For the Country Mouse: Willow Creek Ranch

This bucolic corner of Tomball allows rambunctious pups to swim, run, and lounge in all the muddy, dusty, grassy majesty Mother Nature has on offer. There’s a touch of luxury, too, given the air-conditioned doghouse, and while the facility is cage-free, don’t worry—the dogs are separated from the horses by a fence.

For the Sensitive Pooch: The Green Bone

All first-time customers at this much-loved EaDo business go through an in-house social evaluation to allow staff to learn their quirks and personality traits. From there, they’ll have access to loft-style living, where soothing music lulls resident dogs to sleep as diffusers fill the air with the relaxing scent of lavender.

For the Pampered Pup: Meadowlake Pet Resort & Training Center

Fido might have a more relaxing vacation than you if you’re not careful, considering the staff at this facility near the Beltway and 288 will personally tuck him in, read him a story, and feed him a goodnight snack. Spa treatments include blueberry facials and coat-specific shampoo treatments. In-room flat-screen televisions? Natch. We’d say pinkies up, if dogs had pinkies.
