Astros Prevail Again, 3-1
Gerrit Cole became just the second pitcher in MLB history to strike out 12 batters without walking a single one as the Astros defeated the Indians 3-1 in a tense, action-packed game this afternoon at Minute Maid Park. Marwin Gonzalez was simply phenomenal, stroking three singles and a double that scored Jose Altuve and Alex Bregman, putting the Astros ahead for good in the sixth inning. Bregman, meanwhile, added an insurance run in the bottom of the seventh with a homer into the fence above centerfield.
The Astros now lead the Indians 2-0 in the American League Division Series as the series shifts to Progressive Field in Cleveland on Monday and game three. That contest, which gets underway at 12:30 p.m. local time—the third afternoon game for the clubs—will again be broadcast on TBS.
