2022 is coming to a close and another successful football season is in the books–filled with wild highlights, crazed fans, theft of field goal posts, and the always favorite game day hot dogs. The official collegiate bowl season will formally begin with the commencement of the Bahamas and Cure Bowl on December 16. Whether you’re hosting a watch party or tailgate at your home or gathering up your friends to watch the game on the big screen at a local sports bar, here’s a list of when Texas-based college teams will play and how you can watch without missing a beat.

Texas Christian University will be the first Texas-based team to make an appearance in the College Football Playoffs. The Horned Frogs led the Big 12 conference with a division record of 9-0 and an overall 12-1 record after suffering a loss to their division foe, Kansas State, in the Big 12 championship game on December 3. TCU surged to take the no. 3 spot and they’re slated to take on the no. 2 Michigan Wolverines at the Fiesta Bowl, taking place on December 31 in Glendale, Arizona and broadcasted on ESPN. If they win, the Horned Frogs will take on the winner of the Georgia-Ohio State game and compete for the National Title set for January 9, 2023.

Bowl games will take place through the remainder of December and several will occur in close proximity to Houston in the instance you want to take a trip and watch in-person.

  • The University of North Texas Mean Green and Boise State Broncos will participate in the Frisco Bowl in Frisco, Texas on December 17

  • Baylor University Bears will battle against the Air Force Falcons in Fort Worth in the Armed Forces Bowl on December 22

  • The University of Houston Cougars will take on the University of Louisiana-Lafayette Rajun Cajuns in Shreveport, Louisiana for the Independence Bowl on December 23

  • The Texas Tech Red Raiders will battle against the Ole Miss Rebels in the Texas Bowl on December 28 in the Bayou City at NRG Stadium.

  • Lastly, the University of Texas Longhorns will take on the University of Washington Huskies in the Alamo Bowl in San Antonio on December 29.

If you’re okay with an extensive road trip or catching a quick round-trip flight, here is a completed list of remaining bowl games:

  • Cure Bowl: University of Texas-San Antonio vs Troy University, December 16 in Orlando, Florida

  • New Mexico Bowl: Southern Methodist University vs Brigham Young University, December 17 in Albuquerque, New Mexico.

  • Lending Tree Bowl: Rice University vs University of Southern Mississippi, December 17 in Mobile, Alabama

All bowl games will be broadcasted nationally on ESPN, Fox, and ABC, so be sure to check your local listings. If you are a fan that has cut the cord with cable providers, don’t fret. You will also be able to stream all the games live with a Hulu, ESPN+, FuboTV, and/or YoutubeTV membership.
