Due to public health concerns from COVID-19, all private, public, and higher education schools will stay closed for the remainder of the 2019-20 academic year, Gov. Greg Abbott announced on Apr 17. We will keep updating this list as information comes in.  If you go to any one of these schools, and receive news that's something's changed, or if you don't see your school on this list, email Catherine Wendlandt at [email protected]  

The May and June SATs, scheduled for May 2 and June 6 respectively, have been cancelled. Testing should resume in August. 

Public School

  • HISD will be closed for the remainder of the school year, per the governor's order.
  • GCISD, which included Baytown and Highlands, will be closed for the remainder of the school year, per the governor's order.
  • Spring Branch ISD will continue its learning from home plans for the remainder of the school year. Learn more about maintaining safety with teleconferencing here
  • Pasadena ISD will be closed for the remainder of the school year, per the governor's order.
  • Aldine ISD will remain closed for the rest of the school year. Learn more here
  • Alief ISD is closed for the remainder of the school year. However curbside meals and instructional packet pick-up will continue. Learn more here

  • Cy-Fair ISD has cancelled all in-person classes for the remainder of the school year. Keep up with updates here
  • Galena Park ISD will be closed for the remainder of the school year, per the governor's order.
  • Galveston ISD has canceled classes for the rest of the school year. Curbside meals and online learning will continue. 
  • Humble ISD will be closed for the remainder of the school year, per the governor's order.
  • Hempstead ISD is staying closed for the rest of the school year. Read more here
  • Spring ISD is closed for the remainder of the year.
  • Pearland ISD is closed for the remainder of the school year, which closes May 21. Grab-and-go meals will continue. 
  • Magnolia ISD is closed for the remainder of the school year. The district will announce more information the week of April 20.

Private School 

  • The School of Science and Technology Advancement will be closed for the remainder of the school year, per the governor's order.
  • The Regis School of the Sacred Heart is closed through the end of the school year. 
  • Logos Preparatory Academy will be closed for the remainder of the school year, per the governor's order.   
  • Northland Christian School will be closed for the remainder of the school year, per the governor's order.
  • Fort Bend Christian Academy will be closed for the remainder of the school year, per the governor's order.
  • The Woodlands Preparatory School will be closed for the remainder of the school year, per the governor's order.
  • The Woodlands Christian Academy will be closed for the remainder of the school year, per the governor's order.
  • St. John XXIII College Preparatory will be closed for the remainder of the school year, per the governor's order.
  • Incarnate Word Academy is closed for the remainder of the school year. Virtual classes will end on May 22 for seniors and May 29 for freshmen, sophomores, and juniors. 
  • The Post Oak School will be closed for the remainder of the school year, per the governor's order.
