As the first woman and African-American president of the University of Houston-Clear Lake, Dr. Ira K. Blake is transcending expectations through her focus on the impact of education. Her passion for inclusive learning and leadership opportunities is evidenced by the new academic programs, community partnerships, and emerging industry connections that she has forged since joining the institution in August 2017.

Dr. Blake has spent the last 18 years devoted to advancing the mission of higher education and workforce development. With her educational background in psychology and experience as an educator and leader, she understands the converging needs for success both in the classroom and the real world. She is committed to continuing the evolution of UH-Clear Lake into a nationally-recognized university, dedicated to the delivery of high-quality educational experiences by outstanding faculty who prepare all students for meaningful roles and careers in the Houston-Galveston metropolitan region and beyond.
