An All-Houston, High-Fashion Calendar Debuts at Tootsies
Boozy cotton candy, rum cocktails on tap, and the click-clack of stilettos filled the ground floor of Tootsies on Wednesday night, where the well dressed and well heeled mingled to celebrate the launch of a high-fashion calendar benefitting the Youth Hope Association and The Orange Show.

The brainchild of Tamar Mendelssohn and Lyndsey Zorich, A Couture Cause combines their mutual love of cutting-edge style with a desire to give back to the community. You can’t get any more Houston than this calendar, which features 13 months of looks from Tootsies and David Peck. All work for the project—from hair and makeup to photography and graphic design—was donated by a who’s who of local talent, including photographer Rhonda Hunter, graphic designer Alexandre Rosa and the team from Cutloose Salon.

Donning fashionable 1920s-inspired frocks from Tootsies, models dolled up as “cigarette girls” handed out calendars to guests. The crowd was treated to an evening of beautiful clothes, snacks from Pondicheri, drinks from Downhouse, Buffalo Bayou Brewing, and Captain Foxheart's Bad News Bar & Spirit Lodge. Also: Campari cotton candy from Goro and Gun and sweets from Sweet. Pens in hand, sipping liquid confidence, the crowd went to war over the silent auction items—vying for a chance at a Jimmy Choo clutch or a deeply-discounted Dry Bar gift certificate—raising much needed funds for both organizations.
