Fashion Camp for Budding Designers

There are camps for everything here in Houston—dance camps, theater camps, spin camp for budding DJs, sports camps (fencing, anyone?), academic camps—and thanks to stylist Dawn Bell, there's Fashion Camp Houston (June 9-13). And, can I just say, I really want to go. Too bad it's just for budding designers aged 12 through 18.
Bell founded the camp four years ago, and each year she pulls together a list of speakers, experts, and instructors that rival any college curriculum. This year, campers will get an all-access tour of the Elaine Turner headquarters, take Fashion History 101 from HCC's Freddie Saucedo, visit the Menil Collection for an overview of Charles James Couture, and hear a "Fashion in Film" lecture by the Fashion Camp founder herself, Dawn Bell.
There will also be a 3D rendering and construction class led by HCC/Glassell instructor Jessica McMahon. But it's not all about the classroom at this camp. Campers will get hands-on experience with digital fashion illustration and bring their sketches to life.
Though the first session is sold out, there are still a few open spaces in session two. Head here to sign up.
