What to Wear There: Miller Outdoor Theatre

You choose the event. We'll style you for it.

There's always something happening in Houston: theater, art fairs, ballet, music festivals; stuff for kids, stuff for adults, stuff for pets. And while you may have some trouble choosing which events to attend, this blog series is here to make sure you never have trouble choosing what to wear there.

This weekend, Miller Outdoor Theatre is presenting the 19th Annual Dancin' in the Street: Motown & More Revue. Man, I love Miller Outdoor Theatre. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I belive it actually tops the list of greatest things about Houston. (Whose list, you ask? Mine. Boom.) It's fun for groups big and small, families, couples, EVERYONE! It's got high-quality performances, whether that's opera, dance, theater, or a musical revue. And it's totally free! Check out the full schedule here.

For this event, you're going to want to wear sensible shoes. You're hiking up a hill, after all. But sensible doesn't mean boring. Strappy sandals say "I'm comfy, but I care." If you've been waiting to pounce on the palazzo pant trend, this is the perfect opportunity, and here's why. One, you're watching the performance from a blanket on a hill. You don't want to become the show, if you know what I mean. And two, if the mosquitoes decide to join you, your legs will be covered. Pair the pants with a simple white tee, some shades for pre-dusk, a light jacket for post-dusk (again, to ward off bugs), and a bunch of fun jewelry (how cool is that pigeon claw ring?), and voila! Outdoor theater chic.

So, pack your picnic, don't forget a blanket, and get down to Hermann Park this weekend.
