To Do

Stay Cool & Shop Local This Weekend at Pop Shop America

Etsy comes to life with this two-day shopping, art, and music happening.

It's officially Too Hot, which means the only acceptable activities to occupy our free time are hitting the pool, getting excited about ceviche and other dishes best served cold (revenge, anyone?), binging on Netflix shows and getting in touch with your inner camper by crafting your own DIY style.

Pop Shop America Summer Festival
June 13 & 14, 12-8 p.m.
Free, $18 VIP
Silver Street Studios
2000 Edwards St.

That doesn't mean that you have to sit at home though. If you're looking for a fun summer festival that will leave you significantly less sweaty than Free Press Summer Fest, head to Silver Street Studios for the annual Pop Shop America Summer Festival. The two-day event will feature 90 vendors who specialize in handmade and vintage goods, like the bold jewelry of Priya, paper products from PS PaperShoppe, funky and chunky watches from Mistura Timepieces, African-inspired fashions from A Leap of Style and rosehip-infused soaps and more by Rosehip Essentials.

In addition to all the shopping, there's a full schedule of DJ sets by Ceeplus Bad Knives and others, plus cocktails, art installations, open artist studios throughout Silver Street and a slate of crafting workshops on how to make everything from a flower crown to a terrarium.

Entrance is free (although the workshops are extra) and $18 VIP tickets upgrade you to a spot in the VIP lounge, featuring bites from Batanga, Brasil and other local restaurants, plus a goodie bag and more. And unlike other Houston festivals, the sweet, sweet air conditioning is included.
