A new year: Resolutions, goals, new memories and new beginnings. Make 2016 the year you vow to keep these resolutions or goals for longer than one month—or, if your first month of resolutions didn't go as planned, it's never too late to resolve again. Trust us, your beauty routine will thank you later.
1. Detox your hair
For an in-shower detox, start with a shampoo that’s paraben-free, sulfate-free and purifying. Exfoliate your scalp with a hair and scalp mask; boost moisture with deep conditioner and end with a treatment oil to remove toxins.
2. Discover the power of dry shampoo
Dry shampoo not only extends the life of your blowout, it also saves you time and money on your monthly water bill. Spray or sprinkle a little of the powder on your hair to remove oils from your roots and give texture and volume to fallen curls.
3. Take your vitamins
Whether you want to boost energy levels, protect from sun damage or keep your hair soft and your nails strong, vitamins are a great way to promote great health. Check with your doctor or nutritionist if you aren’t sure of where to begin.
4. Read the labels
If you buy organic, local, non-GMO food, don't forget to read the ingredients in your beauty products and learn what you’re putting on your body. It’s just as important as what you put in your body.
5. Add a serum to your skincare routine
While this isn’t completely necessary, adding a serum can give you tighter, firmer skin. It can also make your pores smaller and boost moisture.
6. Prevent phone-related breakouts
We’re constantly glued to our phones so it’s no surprise that the screens are covered in dirt and bacteria. From our hands to our faces to even other people’s hands, prevent breakouts and sanitize with tech-safe cleansing towelettes for healthy skin.
7. Embrace your natural hair
Constant salon visits to touch up roots and styling with heat can cause severe damage to your hair that isn’t a pretty sight. Instead, learn to work with and love your hair the way it is—it won't let you down.
8. Make bold statements in blue
Blue eyeliner and lips? Don't worry, we're not talking about wearing them together. It's one or the other. From Monique Lhuillier to DVF, blue eye makeup took the Spring 2016 runways by storm, while Lupita Nyong’o sported a metallic blue lip at the Star Wars: The Force Awakens premiere in London and, naturally, we are fans.
