When it comes to furniture, you've graduated from IKEA but you're not quite ready to splurge at Design Within Reach—luckily there's plenty of options priced somewhere in the middle. When it comes to art, however, there's a gap in between affordable prints and the investment-level pieces hanging in Houston galleries.

That's why the Glassell Studio School's annual student art sale is such a big deal among aspiring collectors. The sale includes paintings, watercolors, ceramics, drawings, jewelry prints and more, and is a great way to nab original art from up-and-coming talents. Who knows, you may end up with an early work from the next Dario Robleto or Aaron Parazette. Or just something that look great over your mid-priced sofa.

The Glassell Studio School—which, we should note, is part of the MFAH—is temporarily located at 2450 Holcombe Blvd. The sale takes place Friday, Dec. 9, 12-8 p.m. and Saturday, Dec. 10, 10 a.m.-5 p.m.
