Dry, chapped lips are no fun.

By Beth Levine February 20, 2017

Houston weather sure is weird. One day it’s cold, the next day it’s hot, heck sometimes it's both in the same day. You know what that means? Dry, chapped lips. Listen, a kissable pucker is important—even though Valentine’s Day just passed, you still need to keep those lips in tip-top shape. To help out your mouth, here’s a rundown of some the most effective (and occasionally delicious) balms you should be putting on your lips.

Palmer’s Cocoa Butter Dark Chocolate & Cherry Lip Butter, $3.95

I am a huge fan of Palmer’s products. Not only are their cocoa butter formulas ultra-creamy, they also smell good enough to eat. Each tube has a luxurious feel, smells great and at this price you can keep one at home, the office and in your purse.

Aquaphor Advanced Therapy Healing Ointment$4.99

While it will not add any flavor to your lips, this product has an almost cult-like following and is like having a little bit of old faithful in your purse. Pro tip: It can be used in other places in a pinch—try dabbing some under your eyes, on cuticles or on your feet.

Burt’s Beeswax Lip Balm (Original and Tinted), $3.30-$5

I have been using Burt’s Bees since college (I am a huge fan of their Farmer’s Friend Hand Salve) and their all-natural lip balm is usually a staple in my jacket pocket and bedside table drawer. While I prefer the original, though the tinted one can add a bit of kissable color to your lips and is still a bargain at $5.

Yes To Coconut Lip Balm$4.99

The Yes To brand is centered around natural ingredients that naturally heal whatever ails you: cucumber for sensitive skin, tomato to counteract acne, grapefruit to brighten, etc. The coconut line is for dry skin and this lip balm is super emollient without being greasy and smells like you should be on a tropical island.

Smith’s Rosebud Salve (Tub and Tube), $6

If you haven’t heard of this product yet, where have you been? Like Aquaphor, this is a multi-tasker lip balm that can be used almost anywhere in a pinch. It has the slightest of tints and smells and tastes like roses. While you used to be able to only pick it up at Sephora or Ulta, this handy salve is now making its way into drugstores and Target.
