We've all done it: when checking out the red carpet fashion from one event for another, we skip right past the interchangeable men in tuxedos looking for whatever Rihanna is wearing. When it comes to formal menswear, it's hard to look truly bad, but it's also hard to stand out.

That's why it's so singularly impressive that Spring native Matt Bomer is the talk of the CFDA Fashion Awards on Wednesday. Yes, some people are also gushing over Bella Hadid's hot pink suiting and Janelle Monae's ebony-and-ivory Christian Siriano pantsuit, but Bomer's olive suit by Todd Snyder is getting raves as the breakout look of the evening.

It's fairly easy to see why. Start with an unusual color and material—Snyder told Access Hollywood the suit is actually made of cotton with metal for a one-of-a-kind sheen—and add impeccable tailoring, an edgy pant length, and a human that looks like Matt Bomer, and you've got a guaranteed win.
