5 Pop-Ups and Holiday Markets to Shop This Weekend

All is merry and bright with shopping on the horizon.

If you're in need of some motivation to get over the hump this week, look no further. Houston is a veritable oasis when it comes to holiday shopping, and special markets and pop-ups are, well, popping up across the city this weekend. Here, five reasons to push through the rest of your work week and make a dent in that holiday gift list.

Pop Shop Houston

What: Touts itself as Houston’s most stylish, largest handmade market, where shoppers can find local, fair trade, modern and vintage items for sale, plus live art and music, activities, sample tastings from local eateries and free demos and DIYs.
When: Friday, December 1 (6–10 p.m.); Saturday, December 2 (10 a.m.–7 p.m.) and Sunday, December 3 (11 a.m.–4 p.m.)
Where: GreenStreet, 1201 Main St.

Tickets: $8, passes are good all weekend.

Cheers & Beers Shop Local Holiday Market

What: Local artists and vendors converge at Saint Arnold’s Pub Night for your holiday shopping needs, including ugly Christmas sweaters for all those upcoming parties. Family-friendly; features gift-wrapping, music and food and–of course–drinks.
When: Friday, December 1 (5–10 p.m.)
Where: Saint Arnold Brewing Company, 2000 Lyons Ave.

Free admission.

DesignCraft 2017

What: AIGA Houston’s eighth annual outdoor fair featuring crafts and wares by local artisans, gift-wrapping, food trucks, demonstrations, music and more.
When: Saturday, December 2 (10 a.m.–5 p.m.)
Where: Market Square Park, 301 Milam St.

Free admission.

First Saturday Holiday Arts Market

What: A 13-year-old monthly outdoor fine arts event with a rotating roster of artists, gourmet food trucks and live music.
When: Saturday (duh), December 2 (11 a.m.–5 p.m.)
Where: 540 W 19th St.

Free admission.

CultureMap Holiday Pop-up Shop

What: A curated holiday boutique of 25 local retailers, plus cocktails, festive food, carolers, crafting and gift-wrapping.
When: Sunday, December 3 (11 a.m.–4 p.m.)
Where: Silver Street, 2000 Edwards St.
