This Weekend in Fashion: Luxury Bags, Japanese Street Style, and Closet Makeovers
Springtime in Houston: The weather is heating up, and so is the fashion scene. To help you keep it all straight, we're highlighting a few of our favorite pop-ups, trunk shows, and style-related events throughout the season.
Make(Her) Boutique Easter Party Pop-Up
When: Friday, March 30–Saturday, March 31; noon–5 p.m.
Where: Make(Her) Boutique, 1201 Fannin St., Suite 137
What: The collaborative downtown pop-up that features works by woman makers hosts a special Easter party with shopping and cocktails. Featured vendors include Bag Romance, the Houston-based luxury handbag rental service; locally made natural skincare line Camellia Alise; and apparel from "socially conscious fashionista" group Social Graces.
Anime Matsuri Fashion Square
When: Friday, March 30–Sunday, April 1; noon–5 p.m.
Where: Anime Matsuri Convention at George R. Brown Convention Center, 1001 Avenida De Las Americas
What: A portion of this week's anime convention is dedicated specifically to Japanese fashion, including shops, sales, and full-on makeovers (tickets start at $20). The event promises "a fashion experience like no other" including designs ranging from "gothic aristocrat" to "casual kawaii."
Struck with Style
When: Saturday, March 31; 5–7 p.m.
Where: MODChic Couture, 6125 Kirby Dr.
What: Lux Style & Design, a Houston-based service to connect customers with local designers and personal stylists, hosts "an evening of fashion and style." Expect to meet wardrobe stylists who can offer tips on updating your closet, dressing for your shape, and putting new looks together; cocktails from El Jimador; and a $5 raffle to win a free one-hour consultation.
