CityPlace, the scene of this Friday's market.

ART IS AN Outdoor Night Market

When: Friday, May 17; 6–10 p.m.
Where: CityPlace, 1250 Lake Plaza, Spring
What: An inaugural waterfront market with more than 60 vendors (find handmade art, jewelry, vintage clothes, and more) plus food and entertainment meant to foster community in the new Springswood Village district. Inspired by festivals around the South and throughout Europe, Sarah Lowe of The Art Cellar of Houston and Marco Guerra of Guerra Studios came up with the ART IS AN speciality market concept to expand art-centric programming outside the Montrose/Museum District/downtown bubble. And it's free.

Galveston Island Beach Revue

When: Friday, May 17; 6–7:30 p.m. and Saturday, May 18; noon–7 p.m.
Where: Beach Central, 2102 Seawall Blvd.
What: Go back in time with the 10th annual celebration of island summers past. The two-day event includes Friday's "Revue Prevue" kickoff at Hotel Galvez and a hot rod and classic car show, vintage market, and live music on Saturday, but the crown jewel of the weekend festivities is the Bathing Beauties Contest, when 30 pin-up style contestants don their best retro swimwear and accessories to channel nostalgic Galveston fun and compete for the sash (plus cash prizes).

Sawyer Flea

When: Saturday, May 18; 10 a.m.–5 p.m.
Where: 2313 Edwards St.
What: Another free, outdoor market to take advantage of the fleeting good weather. On offer this month: a curated mix of artisan goods, food, jewelry, candles, soap, skincare products, craft beer, wine, and more, and leashed pets are welcome. This weekend also brings the nearby Houston Bike Summit from BikeHouston and Sawyer Yards—the largest celebration of all types of cycling in the Bayou City.

Flea by Night

When: Saturday, May 18; 6–10 p.m.
Where: Discovery Green
What: And if you didn't get your fill of flea markets by daylight, nightfall brings a second opportunity with downtown's monthly convergence of treasure-hunters. Find artful kitsch, vintage gems, mid-century modern furniture, and recycled and repurposed items from local vendors along Avenida de las Americas and the southeast end of the park. The market is free and also promises light bites and local entertainment.

Favorite Things Market

When: Sunday, May 19; 11 a.m.–3 p.m.
Where: Emerson Rose Montrose, 1637 Westheimer
What: One of our very favorite boutiques invites its favorite boutiques inside the girly Montrose storefront for a shop-within-a-shop extravaganza. The inaugural market is meant to celebrate all things local, and 10 percent of proceeds will benefit Living Water LLC. Furry friends are welcome, as Pawtraits for a Cause will be on-site to prep your pooch for the ultimate Insta story with flower crowns and collars.

Wanderlust Market

When: Sunday, May 19; 11 a.m.–4 p.m.
Where: 2120 Ella Blvd.
What: It's now easier than ever to take a trip around the world without leaving Houston. More than 50 unique vendors and specialty food producers unite in a diverse, globally inspired marketplace to offer international food, textiles, art, jewelry, and cultural experiences. No passport required.
