Acclaimed French book publisher Assouline has opened a boutique in the River Oaks District this spring, its first in Texas and the Southwest. The luxury brand, whose new shop evokes a sophisticated library, features curated collections of elegant coffee table books on culture, architecture, travel, design, and gastronomy (a.k.a. food).
“Houstonians have a love for art and design, so I am confident that our community will be drawn to the boutique’s vast array of creatively-designed books and eclectic aesthetic,” said John Pearson, River Oaks District’s marketing director, in a statement. “Assouline is an important addition to our diverse collection of retailers and experiences that we are continually evolving to create a unique shopping and lifestyle destination.”
We all need eight hours of sleep each night, and so you might as well be comfortable. Celebrated mattress maker Casper opened another Houston-area sleep shop on Friday, April 9, in The Woodlands. Walk into the shop (1201 Lake Woodlands Dr, Ste. 1135, The Woodlands) and test the pillows, bedding, dog beds, and furniture. You can even schedule a nap trial ahead of time. North Carolina-based furniture brand Mitchell Gold + Bob Williams has launched its first-ever outdoor living collection. The two luxurious styles, Del Mar and Sanibel Aluminum, have 11 pieces each, ranging from sofas, lounge chairs, and pool chaises to side, cocktail, and dining tables. The Sanibel collection ($146–1,994) showcases casted aluminum furniture with “ultra-comfy” cushions, while the Del Mar collection ($146–2,927) is built from solid, weathered teak wood. Find both collections online or in the brand’s Houston store (4091 Westheimer Rd) in Highland Village.
Two years after its groundbreaking, Zadok Jeweler’s luxurious, new 28,000-square-foot storefront at 1801 Post Oak finally opened on March 25. The new space is unlike anything Houston’s seen before, with four boutique spaces, two espaces, and fifteen shop-in-shops. Find high-end designers like Cartier and Italian watchmaker Panerai’s first-ever full bar. There’s a champagne bar for trunk shows, a bridal shop upstairs for engagement rings, wedding bands, and loose stones (The bridal shop even has a CAD design studio for couples who want to customize their designs.), and so much more.
