Holidays can be stressful, especially when you’re trying to find the perfect gift for that special somebody. Luckily, the vendors of Houston are making it easy for you this year. Bring the joy back into the season and head over to the many holiday markets and bazaars in and around the city. Purchase handcrafted goods, devour delicious food, and support local talent, all while having a boatload of fun at these 12 seasonal markets and events. 

Velvet Stocking Christmas Bazaar

 
NOVEMBER 10-12 | WEBSTER CIVIC CENTER, FREE ADMISSION

The Velvet Stocking Christmas Bazaar returns to Webster for its 41st anniversary. Known as one of the longest running Christmas bazaars in the Houston Bay Area, this event brings together local artisans to showcase pieces of fine art and intricate crafts. Each vendor has their own market category (gifts, bargains, decorate, and imagine), which allows guests to purchase original pieces from every booth. 

Houston Ballet Nutcracker Market 

 
NOVEMBER 10-13 | NRG CENTER, $18 AND UP

Kick off the holiday season at the Houston Ballet Nutcracker Market. This iconic event features a unique group of merchants, offering everything from home goods and seasonal gifts to toys and accessories. The market first began in 1981, when long-time Houston Ballet supporter, Preston Frazier, approached the ballet guild board with an exciting concept that would help raise funds for the foundation, academy, and scholarship programs. What started in a church bazaar setting has steadily grown into a three-day shopping experience at the NRG Center. Not only does this holiday market make it easy for guests to shop locally, it’s also an efficient way to give back, as 11 percent of proceeds from each ticket purchased and merchandise bought goes to the Houston Ballet Foundation, academy, and scholarship programs.

The Dickens Market

 
NOVEMBER 11-12 | CYPRESS CREEK CHRISTIAN CHURCH, FREE ADMISSION

Already bummed about the impending close of the Texas Renaissance Festival? Travel back to a different moment in time at The Dickens Market, a Victorian-themed Christmas market that features 85 booths showcasing crafts and delicious food items. The event is hosted by Cypress Creek Community Chorale, a non-profit organization dedicated to bringing profound choral music to Northwest Houston. The Dickens market draws in a massive crowd annually with one-of-a-kind merchandise and live entertainment. Did we mention they host a raffle giveaway for attendees to enjoy? 

Holiday Bazaar

 
NOVEMBER 12 | CULTURAL CENTER, FREE ADMISSION

The Holiday Bazaar hosted at the Cultural Center on Bissonnet Street encourages visitors to learn about the historical and artistic traditions of Russian culture. Guests can find gifts for upcoming holidays such as Thanksgiving, Catholic/Orthodox Christmas, New Years, and more. Beautiful hand-made items like colorful wooden tableware called Khokhloma, Russian nesting dolls, and individually painted jewelry chests can all be purchased at this bazaar. Once you’ve finished shopping around, check out the contemporary art collection at the center. 

Big Top Shopping Festival

 
November 19-20 | HERITAGE PLACE PARK, FREE ADMISSION

Head over to Big Top for the ultimate family affair. The Shopping Festival will feature a wide selection of exhibitors that bring the best in boutique clothing, accessories, home decor, furniture, gourmet food, yard decorations, and of course holiday items. The market is made up of handcrafted goods and manufactured items, ranging anywhere from $5 to $2,000. Shopping at this festival puts money directly back into the community, as all exhibitors are small business owners. They offer a large variety of indoor and outdoor Christmas decor and have an amazing game zone for children ages three to 14. 

Friendsgiving Market at Karbach Brewing

 
NOVEMBER 20 | KARBACH BREWING RESTAURANT AND PATIO, FREE ADMISSION

German-styled brewed beer specials, local vendors, and food trucks. What more can you be thankful for? Every year the Karbach’s Friendsgiving Market hosts the most talented artists, vintage curators, and makers that the city has to offer. Providing a wonderful selection for shoppers to get a jump start on their holiday spending. This year, the event will also have a special live performance by JoiLux Dueling Pianos.

Shop Small Saturday Cookie Walk

 
NOVEMBER 26 | HISTORIC DOWNTOWN ROSENBERG, FREE ADMISSION

Enjoy a day of shopping and sweet giveaways while supporting local small businesses at the annual cookie walk. Guests are given a free "cookie passport" to help guide them on their walk of sampling delicious treats and visiting a variety of merchants. The first 300 participants on the walk will receive an official downtown bag to place all their locally produced goods in.

HTX Holiday Market Expo

 
DECEMBER 17 | WASHINGTON AVENUE, FREE ADMISSION

Shop with over 30 vendors at the fast growing holiday market expo. This event is open to all looking to enjoy great ambiance, live music, and shopping. There will also be door prizes plus giveaways and a 360 photo booth to capture all your holiday market fun! Support local makers and meet some of Houston's dedicated community leaders. Santa will also be in attendance to take pictures with children and collect letters to bring back to the North Pole.

Blitzen's Bazaar

 
DECEMBER 2 | PEARLAND INDEPENDENCE PARK, FREE ADMISSION

Hop into the Christmas spirit at the Blitzen’s Bazaar. This festive gift market features exhibitors and food trucks from Big Top and H-E-B's Winter Wonderland. Attendees can expect great sightings from the City Council, community leaders, Mayor Kevin Cole, and even Santa Claus himself, as they come together for the traditional lighting of the city’s Christmas tree. The market will also have light displays to view, finishing the night off with a spectacular fireworks show.

Holiday VIBE Market

 
DECEMBER 10-11 | POST HOUSTON, FREE ADMISSION

This holiday market promises an unforgettable shopping experience at the POST in downtown Houston. The two-day event will host 150 local artists, creatives and makers each day with melodic sounds provided by DJ Lifted. If the vibes weren't immaculate enough, the artisan shopping experience will serve complimentary cocktails and samples from 10 different concept restaurants.

A BLCK Christmas 

 
DECEMBER 17 | PEARLAND TOWN CENTER, FREE ADMISSION

The BLCK Christmas holiday market is a seasonal affair that celebrates the Black community. This market features live music, food trucks, and community activities for the whole family. If you want to have a great shopping experience with a happy gathering essence to it, head to Pearland to attend this special holiday event.
