Sleek, Silver, and Smart

Are your rental cars mired in the Stone Age? Does your hired Acura or Camry make you feel like your are in Fred Flintstone's Footmobile? Does the thought of exile from the Wi-Fi bubble for even a few minutes give you the heebie-jeebies?
Well, you are in luck: beginning July 1, Silvercar will be in town.
The Austin-based car rental service offers only one make, model and color: silver Audi A4s, and each is equipped with onboard wi-fi, Sirius XM satellite radio, and Google Earth GPS navigation. Once you download their app, you can use your smartphone to arrange your rental, unlock your ride, and get your receipt. There's no sales counter, no printers, and no gate checkpoint. (Unless you don't have a SmartPhone, we suppose, but then you are probably not in the target audience for these rides.)
Silvercars are also currently available at DFW, Love Field, and Bergstrom, and as of Monday, Houstonians can enjoy the introductory rate of $75 per weekday and $50 for Saturdays and Sundays.
