Green Mountain Energy Ice
Downtown | $15.85–18.85, admission includes skate rental
Houston’s only outdoor ice skating facility, Green Mountain Energy Ice (formerly the ICE at Discovery Green) takes over the park’s Kinder Lake with an eco-friendly take on the winter tradition. On Sundays, you can take photos with various Santa Clauses of different backgrounds and tickets are $9 on Mondays. There are also themed nights and weekly discounts.

Ice Skate Memorial City
Memorial City | $10
Conveniently located in Memorial City Mall, this rink is close to a food court and restaurants, a carousel, and all of the mall’s amenities. There will also be two Nutcracker on Ice performances on December 14—the perfect environment to create holiday memories.
303 Memorial City Way, 902
Moody Gardens
Galveston | Festival of Lights admission: $70–85
Over two million twinklers are ready to dazzle you and yours at Moody Gardens’ annual Festival of Lights (November 23–January 1), admission to which is required if you want to go ice skating. All that walking and skating can build up quite an appetite. Luckily, there’s hot cocoa and s’mores on hand to make your day even more festive.
One Hope Blvd
Sugar Land Ice and Sports Center
Sugar Land | $12–14, admission includes skate rental
This suburban winter wonderland, already a hit with area residents, is well worth the glide over to the southwest side. The rink has figure skating lessons and broomball. What on earth is that, you ask? It’s a Canadian ice sport played without skates and with a broom, slightly similar to hockey. Plus: Mark your calendars for Nutcracker on Ice performances December 14 and 15.

The Ice Rink at The Woodlands Town Center
The Woodlands | $7–15, admission includes skate rental
The Woodlands’ 21,000-square-foot multipurpose facility, located near the Pavilion, freezes over into a beautiful rink that delights both the young and the young at heart. If you go with your own skates, you get a ticket discount.
